MADE IN GREENSUSTAINABILITY LABEL

Sustainability label of our garments at Blåkläder

At Blåkläder, we are proud to announce that several of our workwear items have now received the independent and internationally recognised STeP by Oeko-Tex Made in Green sustainability label. We anticipate that soon, half of our range will undergo the same validation, ensuring our commitment to climate responsibility, social conditions, and the reduction of harmful substances.

Sustainable production is a central part of our business, and we understand the importance of monitoring and influencing the entire value chain to improve working conditions and reduce climate impact. Therefore, it is crucial for us that buyers place demands on suppliers to ensure sustainability throughout the production chain.

What is STeP by Oeko-Tex Made in Green?

STeP by Oeko-Tex Made in Green is a sustainability label that indicates a textile product has been tested for harmful substances and manufactured in environmentally friendly and socially responsible conditions. To obtain the Made in Green label, the product must first achieve STeP by Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, safeguarding a garment free from harmful or allergenic substances. It must also have been produced in STeP by Oeko Tex  certified production; which assesses the supply chain from an environmental and social sustainability perspective. The label signifies that the production considers the climate, ensures high quality, and occurs in workplaces with good working conditions. Additionally, the label guarantees complete traceability upstream the value chain.

Supporting Our Customers with Sustainability Labels

The Made in Green label is an important third-party review that helps our customers verify our sustainability efforts. This is why we have commenced an extensive validation of our workwear based on STeP by Oeko-Tex Made in Green. Our most in-demand products are the first to be certified but we are confident that many more of our products already meet the requirements and can obtain the label. Our goal is for the entire range to be labelled. Our first milestone is for half of all our products to have the label by the end of 2024, and ultimately, for all items to be labelled.

Control Over Production

We maintain good control over production as almost all our garments are manufactured in our own factories. Several of our facilities are also LEED Green Buildings certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design https://www.usgbc.org/leed ), which includes criteria such as energy efficiency, water consumption, working environment, and carbon emissions during construction and operation.
